Texas Penal Code Sec. 1.01. SHORT TITLE

The first section of the Texas Penal Code is Section 1.01 and it is pretty simple. Its only purpose is to name the code. Not to be confused with the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure the Penal Code is the main group of statutes that cover criminal laws in the State of Texas.
Sec. 1.01. SHORT TITLE. This code shall be known and may be cited as the Penal Code.
