For years the answer was simply no — a DWI conviction was permanent. Brian Foley explains what changed: a dismissed or acquitted DWI can be expunged, and since 2017 a first DWI conviction can be sealed with an order of nondisclosure if the alcohol concentration was under 0.15, there was no crash, and the waiting period (shorter with an interlock) has passed.
